About Living Faith

What We Believe

At Living Faith, our beliefs are grounded in the teachings of the scriptures of the Old and New Testament:
  • We believe that Jesus Christ is "God with us" ("Emmanuel).
  • We believe that Christ came into the world to restore our relationship with God our Heavenly Father, the Creator of all things.
  • We believe that through Christ's suffering and death on the cross, he sacrificed for our sin and guilt, and we can be reconciled to God.
  • We believe that we are reconciled by trusting in what Christ has done for us—this is called “faith”—and that we cannot add anything to what Christ has done, which would be our attempt at “good works.”
  • While we do not believe we can do good works for our salvation, we believe that our lives will bear "good fruit," and this fruitful "new life" is the work of the Holy Spirit, who fills us, empowers us, and creates new spiritual life.
  • Because of the Holy Spirit's work in us, a new, living relationship with God is now possible.
  • We believe all persons have sacred worth: all persons are loved by God, can receive forgiveness, and can have new life in Christ by faith and trust in his finished work on the cross.
  • We believe that Jesus was raised from the dead with a new, eternal body, and that all who are faithful in Christ will also experience the power of the resurrection and have eternal life in the world to come.
  • We believe that the life Christ gives us right now leads us into significant, even sacred new daily life, as we serve him and become change agents in the world for his kingdom, the “kingdom of God” which is coming among us now, but will be fully manifest in the world and life to come.

Our Mission

Our mission is summed up in the following statement:

At Living Faith United Methodist Church,

our passion is to make followers of Jesus Christ

by building strong individuals and families

who model Christian principles

in every generation.

Our History

Living Faith United Methodist Church was chartered in 1998.  For six years we worshiped and met various locations in Omaha, including Westside High School, Millard North, and Millard West High Schools.

We moved into Phase I of our new church facility in February of 2004.  We are located just west of 180th and Q Streets, west of the Goodwill and Sherwin Williams stores.

Although our church building is a wonderful facility, it is our people who are “the church” at Living Faith!  We continue to grow and add new individuals and families to the Living Faith family.

We are challenged to live and grow as disciples of Jesus Christ through study in small groups, through vibrant worship, and through service, both among our members, out into the Omaha community and beyond, most recently by sending mission teams to southern Mississippi to help with hurricane Katrina relief.
