Pastor Jaime Farias joined Living Faith UMC in July of 2020.
Rev. Jaime Joel Farias is an ordained minister with thirty-seven years of pastoral experience. He came to United Sates as a missionary to the Hispanic population at South El Paso, TX in 2000. He was working in a ministry partnership between New Mexico Conference and the General Board of Global Ministries, planting a Hispanic faith community in one of the poorest areas at El Paso, TX.
Rev. Jaime Farias was invited by the Nebraska Annual Conference in July 2003 to plant a Hispanic congregation in Lexington and to pastor at Cozad Parkview UMC. The Bishop and the Board of Ordained Ministry of the Nebraska Annual Conference officially transferred his orders from the Northcentral Annual Conference of the Methodist Church of Mexico. Thus, in 2008, he was received as Elder in full connection by the former Nebraska Annual Conference by transference of orders, and following the Book of Discipline, he received his episcopal appointment as an Elder in Full Connection.
Rev. Jaime Farias started serving at Cozad Parkview UMC in 2003 and Lexington Hispanic Ministries but in 2010 he was appointed at Laurel-Logan Center UMC serving as their pastor seven years. Then, in 2017, he was appointed at Dakota City- Homer UMC, being their pastor for three years. This year, he has been appointed to Living Faith UMC in Omaha.
Pastor Jaime, as he likes to be called, has been married with Damaris Martinez for 39 years. They have three daughters, Aydee, Cesia, and Nancy. They also have four grandchildren. Pastor Jaime, Damaris, and daughters were born in Mexico. Yet, they are now U.S. Naturalized Citizens. Only their grandchildren are born in U.S.
Pastor Jaime Farias enjoys music, movies, and sports. Yet, reading is one of his favorite hobbies. He is passionate in preaching, teaching the Bible, and sharing the Good News through evangelism and discipleship.
Pastor Jaime graduated from John Wesley Methodist Seminary in Monterrey, N.L., Mexico. He also studied English Language at Chihuahua State University. He started the M.Div. program at Sioux Falls Seminary but has not finished yet.
