At Living Faith, we’re on a mission!
The mission of Living Faith United Methodist Church is to make disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world.
Living Faith will fulfill its mission by connecting persons to God and to each other through Jesus Christ.
We believe every person matters to God
The most well-known verse in the Bible is John 3:16— “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.” This means every person is loved and valued by God so much that he acted on our behalf through Christ’s suffering, death and resurrection, so that we can be set free from sin’s brokenness and emptiness, and experience God’s love personally.
We believe that God created every person for connection—for relationship.
Our desire is to help every person discover and develop a connection with God through his Son, Jesus Christ. As we experience God’s unconditional love in Christ, we will be given the grace to love one another in genuine relationship. God invites us to join his family, the church, the body of Christ, so that we can continue growing in our relationship with God and with each other.
We believe that Jesus perfectly reveals God to us
Jesus was controversial because he said things like “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will not walk in darkness but will have the light of life” (John 8:12) and “I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. If you had known me, you would know my Father also. From now on you know him and have seen him” (John 14:6-7).
Jesus came to reveal God to us so that we can know God and understand his purpose for our lives. God spoke to us through Jesus and Jesus perfectly reflects who God is (Hebrews 1:1-3).
Therefore it is our desire—our mission—to help every person connect with God in this life-transforming relationship of new life in Christ
When we accept God’s gift of forgiveness and new life in Christ, two things happen:
First, we are reconciled to God. A relationship with God was impossible because our sin separated us from God's holiness. God's gift of forgiveness, and our acceptance of that gift, brings us into a living relationship with God. His Holy Spirit brings spiritual life where we were formerly spiritually dead to God. In John 3:6-8, Jesus says "That which is born of the flesh is flesh, and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit. Do not marvel that I said to you 'You must be born again.' The wind blows where it wishes, and you hear its sound, but you do not know where it comes from or where it goes. So it is with everyone who is born of the Spirit."
Second, the Holy spirit living in us begins to change us from the inside out. There is literally a "new creation" taking place in us (2 Corinthians 5:17). Not only are we reconciled to God -- "made right" with God; we start to change so that we reflect God's character. We start to become "Christ-like."
Stay connected
Every relationship needs nurture in order to stay healthy and grow. This is why the church exists, to help us stay connected with God and others. We invite you to join us on this journey of “connection” with God and with others through his Son, Jesus Christ. Your life will become a sacred journey every day!
